Army confirms another Orlando shooting victim spent time in uniform

A former specialist in the Puerto Rico National Guard and the Army Reserve was among the 49 victims in the Orlando nightclub shooting, Army officials confirmed Friday afternoon.
Angel Candelairo-Padro, 28, served six years (2006-2012) in the San Juan-based 248th Army Band, according to Army records. The unit’s Facebook page paid tribute to their former member in a post on Wednesday night:
Candelairo-Padro entered the Inactive Army Reserve in January 2012, then served with the Puerto Nuevo-based 49th Medical Battalion from April 2013 until he left service the following January, records show. He moved from Chicago to Orlando earlier this year, the Orlando Sentinel reported, and was set to begin a new job as an ophthalmic technician about a week after the shooting.
Candelairo-Padro’s death was first reported by Military.com, citing a statement from Matt Thorn, executive director of OutServe-Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, a group that provides legal advice and other support to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender service members and veterans

Thanks for letting us know SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL that former Army Reserve soldier Angel Candelairo-Padro was among those killed in the Orlando night club execution style shooting.
It seems like the percentage of those with military service who were killed that night may well be representative of indicative of the percentage of younger people who serve in the military or are veterans from urban areas. In my 34 years we had higher percentages of infantry soldiers from rural areas than urban areas.
