Army Halts Plans to Scuttle Its Fleet of Watercraft

Yeah, not many people, even in the Army know or care about this. I was a member of the 824th Transportation Company (Heavy Watercraft) out of Morehead City, NC. The Active component took our LCUs, and the unit eventually deactivated. From what I was told by those in the 97th (Active unit at Fort Eustis) the Active Component didn't have the manning to crew the boats they had, now they have double, and the same crewing problem. I hope the Army brings back Reserve watercraft units.
