Army in Europe in Search of New 'Mantra' that Includes Africa Mission

The odd one for me as I never quite understood this one, even today watching the History Channel and of the likes of Egypt, is having Africa to even fall under the European Theater.
Either make it apart of the Middle East or make it it’s own entity. If we are only speaking to Northern Africa, most of that has been considered the Middle East for millenniums! If, not, get it out from under “Europe” as it is its own continent and build it up to suit the need of the much lost European Theater land due to the Cold War ceasing, Eastern Block Falling and BRAC. Would also keep Turkey, a hindrance for decades, out of the mix. As far as changing the Mantra, sounds like more wasted money and another bullet for someone’s retirement OER!

SGT Jim Ramge, MBA - Egypt is already part of CENTCOM, not AFRICOM or EUCOM. Africa is still it's own COCOM... all of Africa less Egypt. The only thing that's changed is now USARAF will be the ASCC for AFRICOM, but also report to USAREUR. This way USARAF has a 4-star to advocate for it within the Army.

CW4 Keith Dolliver - Keith, wasn't all that up on all the migrating since the arrival of AFRICOM to begin with, been out for 20+. Sounds like we are once again - re-creating the wheel with your Mantra comment, along with my money comment, a waste & shame!
