in March 2004, I was a foreign Service officer happily serving in Pretoria, South Africa. I was also a Army CPT in the IRR. My wife was pregnant and our unborn daughter needed heart surgery. Then, I got a 2-week old letter directing me to report to Ft. Benning for mobilization in support of OEF.

I was in base housing at Fort Huachuca, AZ when my neighbor was involuntary seperated during a RIF, Desert Shield came 4 months later and he was back in his same housing unit due to the recall. At least he got to retire because of it....
