MSgt Guillermo Ybarra III (HVAC Recruiter) This was posted before and it's an awful idea. I'm all for these positions to be paid more, but via special duty pay. There is no reason to make a 10th or 11th enlisted pay grade with a high year of tenure of enlisted folks at 32 years tops. Officers have 10 grades and can go 40 to up to about 42 years with waivers. Why would the enlisted corps need more play grades for less time able to serve. These leaders need to focus on other major problems concerning our military force than this. Just my two cents.

How about appropriately compensating enlisted personnel who have degrees? I mean the main thing separating enlisted and commissioned is the schooling. Now that the army is pushing the importance of civilian education, and rightly so, shouldn't they at least consider this? I view this as being more relevant to those that are choosing this as a career. I mean why stay in until retirement as enlisted making peanuts, when you could go get commissioned and be making a heck of a lot more money?

This makes no sense. Because someone has a college degree they should get paid more? That is so un supported. Pay differently for the same job? Your statement it self contradicts. You say why not go commission and making a lot more money. Bingo there you have it. You want to get paid for your college degree the path is there. Don't expect just to get paid more without you changing any thing. JMO

Well the way that active has been going; if you want to make senior enlisted, you're going to need a BS or BA. It's just not the same Army it used to be. One simply cannot come in straight out of high school as enlisted, and expect to make CSM with a simply a good career. I would say that being more educated than X% of enlisted, would be changing something. Just my $0.02.

This is were we dis agree I troop can still come in and make his rank by taking classes while he is in. It is very helpful to have college to compete for upper NCO ranks so in fact people are getting compensated in a way by being given advantages on boards. I am just very against a blanket deal where Joe smo goes to underwater basket weaving at "Disco Tech" get a crappy degree and is going to be paid more just based on that? No way.
