We were in Philadelphia Friday night for the Army football game at Temple a 28-13 upset win for the Black Knights. We saw the team mature in front of us in head coach Jeff Monken's third season, so many of last season's freshman have grown into productive players. Senior linebacker Jeremy Timpf had eight tackles leading the defense which had four sacks and three interceptions. The offense ran for 330 yards and most importantly did not turn the ball over. This is the happy singing of the USMA "Alma Mater", after the Cadets all stood for the Temple version. Army hosts Rice on Saturday at Michie Stadium now feeling very optimistic about what they can achieve this season.

I was surprised to see Army win. Maybe we'll go to a bowl game this season, even if it's one of those many 'what the heck is this' bowl games. ;-)

This was a game Army fans might not have expected to win, Temple came in virtually a Top 30 team. It takes six wins to qualify for a bowl, five must be against FBS opponents (Div. I), believe me an invitation to any of the bowl games would be highly valued by all at USMA, it is a great experience for the players and visibility for the school and US Army. Much business before that, winning the last game on the schedule is #1 priority and having a chance to play for the Commander In Chief Trophy. The coaches all say, they teach the players to think only about that week's opponent and during the game, the next snap of the ball. Should be a fun season!
