Once upon a time "fair and balanced" was achieved through competition. Every city and town had at least two newspapers with competing points of view. Those days are long past. In another time, more recent, broadcast news consisted of cheap voice actors reading newspapers on the air. Those days have been replaced by broadcast news departments that are entertainment profit centers. Journalism, as you and I understand the term, has no part in their operations. Which all brings us to the conundrum, why is biased news profitable only when it's skewed to the Left while popular media, like talk radio, skewed to the Right? It seems that people who like to talk about issues and think for themselves lean to the Right, while those who need lots of pretty (male and female) news readers and lots of video images to mold their ideas for them, lean to the Left?
