Unfortunately, when a person buys two or more guns at the same time, it triggers a multi-gun-purchase-record, and one of the first things ATF auditors look at is those forms. Straw-buyers often buy more than one gun at the same time, and while I can't prove it, I saw a couple of purchases while I was working at Addison's that just didn't "smell" right.
One time, several guys came into the shop and looked at several guns before deciding which ones the "buyer" was going to buy...cash. Because it didn't "smell" right to me, I got one of the other employees to do the paperwork. BTW, they were from south Florida, so they had driven several hours to get to our shop.
