Virtually every civilization had its Golden Age. The Moors were no exception. The Chinese had one spanning thousands of years. The Huns made it to about a thousand. As did the Khazars and the Romans. Although all built their empires by strength of arms, they endured through enlightened behavior.

I saw a Newsweek or US News Magazine 15 or 16 years ago that Granada Spain in in AD 1000 had a kerosene Street Lamp system some kind of system to keep lights on and was the most advanced City in Western Europe.
