Oh, we were instructed not to discuss racial issues, as the Australians felt strongly that we were treating our black population badly and we didn't want any international incidents. Ironic.

I visited Townsville, Australia in 1961, this was the attitude at that time. As with the USA, some progressive enlightenment is good.
