My daughter's is in two weeks. A sad commentary on the state of things, they will pass through a metal detector and have bags checked when they go in, the doors are closed at a specific time, once they leave they cannot return, and the School District PD will be making sure that nobody is loitering in the parking lot.

IMO, the lack of guidance and discipline in the home is the first place to look at on why these teens feel they need to do this. Latchkey kids or single parent households, divorce where the Child gets to choose which parent to live with. No punishment for wrongdoings. Spoiling your kid just to keep the peace. Outside influences, friends, I won't blame video games or their makers because that falls under parental responsibilities. Any of these can turn sweet little Johnny or Janie into a cold remorseless killer. I forgot to mention abuse, but that also ranks up there. Bullying is in the abuse group. All in all the society of next has no feeling of remorse and why should they. They know that their parents won't do anything, so why should they care.
