Hmm… a quick goodbye or lingering pain? What a choice…

The choice, though, Capt Dwayne Conyers , is that suicide was the only option because the government wouldn't pay for nursing care. I have had 3 friends with LG disease, and there certainly comes a time when they would rather have another option.

Pick just about any measure and you'll find that the U.S. lags Canada on just about every measure of comparison. Our system costs more, covers less people, and has worse health outcomes (lower life expectancy, higher infant mortality, lower patient satisfaction, higher maternal mortality, higher adolescent birth rate, etc.). Facts matter.

LTC Kevin B. That's a great chart, sir, but has nothing to do with the fact a 41 YO man had to choose doctor suicide because he couldn't get care for his Lou Gehrig's disease in Canada. I have taken care of 20+ people over the last number of years that needed nursing home care, etc, and not once, never, did I not find a way to get care. (Sorry for the bunch of negatives in there...)

LT Brad McInnis - My mother died from a form of Lou Gehrig's disease here in the US because she couldn't afford the adequate care that she needed. And, she was forbidden from assisted suicide and had to suffer through a slow, cruel death. Now you tell me, just how was our system any better for her? And, you brought the Canada versus US comparison into the discussion when you made your little quip about "the left talks about the great healthcare in Canada". Again, facts matter.
