SGT (Join to see) sometimes you have to clean house to make things right. Culture is a hard thing to unlearn. There should probably be a change in leadership as well.

If a platoon, in a company, in the battalion that you command, is identified as having a significant "problem", you should "clean house"? Get rid of the whole platoon! No, wait! What if that platoon's "culture" has effected the rest of the company? Well, discharge them, too. Ask the CO, XO and Platoon Leadrrs to resign their commissions. Clean out the leadership? How about your commission, too. Ludicrous? Absolutely! What it work in Baltimore? It wouldn't work in the military. Oh, by the way, the majority of the leadership in the Baltimore Police Department are minorities.

Having been in troubled organizations and turned them around, cleaning house and changing the culture is key. Cleaning house doesn't mean firing the entire group, it does mean getting rid of the "bad apples".

Okay. They flame that blacks are singled out more that whites in Baltimore. This is absolutely true! 63.7% of the population is black, while only 29.6% is white. It is a statistical probability that this happens. That's like saying that the police in Hawaii pick on native Hawaiians more that whites. Duh! And, the BPD is over 50% minorities. Math doesn't lie, people do. While some people may point to this post negitively and say it because I'm white. I'm not. I'm Hispanic. If people are concerned about the makeup of police departments, then qualified minorities should apply for the job. What? Low pay, bad hours, crappy working conditions, chance of injury or death turn you off from the job? Whant to identify the cause of those working conditions? Look in the mirror...

I think much of this has been a witch hunt. There are bad LEOs, certainly. but weeding out unjust ones should be done at Internal Affairs and not before the entire nation. All LEOs are suffering due to the actions of some.
