If any DC residents still question why the Marine Barricks are allowed to occupy “prime real estate” off Capitol Hill on 8th & I, I think they should ask these residents and their families. I heard this more than once when I lived in DC. Not one resident perished and there were only minor injuries thanks to these young Marines. If Iwo Jima wasn’t enough, I think this paid for the lease at 8th & I for the next 50 years. Great job Marines!!! Much respect.

I was stationed at 8th&I in the late 80’s early 90’s and even back then it was a place that the surrounding hood would come to get help.
