Can't wait. The worst part is, this won't even create a cost savings, because rental places will just jack the prices up to the max BAH for the area, people won't have any incentive to price-shop at all, and we'll have to hire a bunch of new people to dig through leases and mortgage statements to enforce the new code.

It's not worth the time and effort, and will end up only alienating more people at a time when the Air Force, at least, is trying to sell the idea of bringing in an additional 40-60K people. It'll be tough to retain people by cutting their benefits, let alone recruiting new people.

Spot on sir. Hell, I know I'd refinance my mortgage to bring up the monthly payment. If it cant go into my pocket, its going to go into my equity!

Unless you call 2-5% over 3 years a significant reduction....And folks living in base quarters will have to contribute up to 5% of BAH monthly towards expenses. Not a big deal as the pendulum is swinging back to cost savings from wartime spending. Semper Fi.

It becomes a bigger deal when people like me suddenly lose $400 a month because I bought a house where the mortgage was less than my BAH.
