Thanks for reminding us about the battle of Buena Vista SGT John " Mac " McConnell. In light of our current relation with Mexico it is helpful to remember the Mexican American war as well as the punitive raid into Mexico by Black Jack Pershing to capture Pancho Villa. Since the Monroe Doctrine was unilaterally promulgated we have used military as an extension of diplomacy many times "sout of the border."
