SFC (Join to see) Thanks for the share Mary. It's hard to imagine how primitive weapons and war was back then....and beliefs and thoughts...and this reminds me of how so many people went BONKERS regarding General LEE and the south and got rid of statues and plaques and other things as if it would be erased from history. Drove me BONKERS that these idiots did that...as did the stupid mayor in San Antonio who got rid of anything regarding the CIVIL war down town to even a statue of LEE on his horse in Travis park. ok....enough..I know heehehehe

Thank you for sharing this SFC Mary Beaver. This is very dear to me and my brother. My brother served in the Navy aboard the USS Chancellorsville, and my birthday is May 6, 1963, exactly 100 years after that battle.

Your welcome SFC James Shanks, thank you for sharing your families connection to a piece of our history. Wish my history of the year I was born had better memories to it. Sad to say the year I was born is connected to the current war that were in.
