There are reasons why Mercury is relatively unexplored - it is a fairly unremarkable rock in space, not dissimilar to the moon. So for the low, low price of a few billion Euros, we will have fresh pictures of this cratered rock.
I can think of better ways for Europe to spend their money, and more attractive and interesting targets for exploration.
