Maybe, maybe not. Larry Elder was one of the early black conservatives and I used to listed to his show on LA Talk Radio. He was a pariah in his community. They boycotted his sponsors and vilified him at every turn. You could say he was a "prop" except no one put him up to it. In time, callers to his show began to change their tune. Many apologized for their harsh treatment as they gave testimony to a growing awareness that the Democrats had been pimping them, growing overly confident in their votes and giving nothing in return. Over the past decade, more and more "props" began appearing on social media. The traditional media simply wasn't about to provide them with a forum. Now the #WalkAway Movement is snowballing. The awareness is spreading throughout "victim" communities. The identity politics of the DNC is beginning to turn sour. This article appears to be a desperate attempt to turn the tide. If it fails, the elections this November could be the greatest defeat suffered by the Democrats since they lost the Civil War.

I listened to Larry on KFI back in the 90s when I was in L.A. Has he ever been offered a show on FNC? Knowing him as we do, you know he'd take it. But you only see him or other seasoned black conservatives on Fox News if we're talking about race issues, meanwhile those with a fraction of his cred are propped us as new unelected leaders, sanctioned by FNC.

SN (Join to see) - I was on the road a lot during the 1970's and 80's and listened to him on KABC. Inasmuch as I don't watch any broadcast news, I haven't seen Larry in a long, long time. I see him occasionally on some podcast and find him to be just as informative and entertaining as he was then. Tavis Smiley seems to be the shill of choice for parroting the official narrative and I can't listen to him. Generally, I don't listen to conservative commentators. They're one-trick ponies and quickly get boring. I don't listen to progressive Leftist commentators because they are shills all parroting the same line. I don't hear an original thought from any of them.

CPT Jack Durish And with all due respect, I'm not trying to "turn the tide" if there really is one. Given the past record of those who are social media self-promoters, this issue is much to serious to leave to a person who claims to only have become a conservative a year ago and anoint her leadership status. You wouldn't do that in the Armed Forces. Politics should be at least near the same and the damage that can be caused by a rank amateur or narcissist is huge.

I don't know what to think of this piece. I get the feeling it was written by a Liberal in the attempt to stem the flow of People of Color, 'cause it's not just Blacks, to the conservative mindset. I don't have any "friends", people I hang out with and visit or that come to my house to visit, I do have many acquaintances. I was raised an Army Brat, never in one place long enough to make friends. That being said, many of my best and most trusted acquaintances during my life have been Black, but I really tend to think of them as Green or Camo, the actual color of their skin didn't factor into my thoughts. We were all in some way associated with the ARMY tribe. I had a "different" upbringing, I was born CONUS and lived most of my life here, But the earliest of my formative years were spent OCONUS. Meine erste sprache war Deutsch. So there's quite a bit of a European mindset. I do not dislike anyone because of their skin color. My like or dislike is based on your level of Asshole, and they's a heap of white folks I don't care for. I used to get really upset with my father for telling a "joke" that denigrated a particular group of people based on racial or ethnic characteristics. Later in his life he quit voicing these thoughts, but I know it was still in his head. I am a conservative American and would love to see our country become the beacon of hope to the world it once was. To those that would come to America for the opportunity to better themselves I say "Come ahead". If your whole plan is to come to America, and get on the welfare roles, "Stay, your weak ass, at home, aint nobody 'round here got time for that". Now, on topic, sticking an attractive face out front to be your "Talking Head" has been a fact of life for a long time. It's what's behind the eyes and between the ears that's important. I seldom watch broadcast news, when I do it's Fox, and the women's names mentioned here don't ring a bell. I remember seeing the gown somewhere, but it wasn't important enough to stick, just dog and pony shit. I have been convinced by the NRA that Dana Loesch, and Colion Noir, are 100% behind their messages. Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell are 2 of my favorite commentators among many. Although I do know that both of them during their professional lifetimes have been called out as "working for tha man" because they have told Black youth that, Yes, they can get out of the projects and have happy and fulfilling lives. Opinions are like... and y'all know the rest. Use your own brain to make decisions, not what the talking head said.

I've been called worse than a "liberal". Again, the point of this piece is that self-promoters are being elevated to "leader" status with no investigation of motives and are being embraced, in this case, just because the new "leaders" are young, black and female.

I don't consider anyone a "leader" because i've been told to by someone else. It's the whole use your own brain and research to determine your opinion of the talking head. A lot of what David Hogg regurgitates is the pablum he's being fed by Bloomberg, he's just a talking head, no matter how much CNN hangs on his every word.

I think it is insulting to call black conservatives props. Most that are conservative take a beating from the media and the elites and have pretty regular insults hurled at them for their beliefs. Each are individuals that have come to their station in life in different ways and for different reasons. All successful and likely paid prices most of us do not know about.

Fox News has dominated cable news ratings for so long it is staggering. Their formula for success in ratings (which are the primary driver of programming) is hard to argue with. I would like to see more black conservatives on any network, not just Fox, how about CNN or MSNBC etc.?

There are many great black conservative voices out there. I have enjoyed many over the years including Walt Williams, Thomas Sowell, Larry Elder, Michael Steele, Herman Caine, Condi Rice, Allen West, Ben Carson and a number of others.

I am not a big fan of the shooting stars that tend to be young, attractive women in the media these days. Not that young attractive women cannot be solid conservatives but many are not. They help fill network time and give the appearance of diversity in my opinion not necessarily good conservative thought.

SN (Join to see) - Young and attractive was not really "your case". Candidly, I am not sure what your case is. I thought it was that more established black conservatives don't get the attention/shows etc. you think they should and that perhaps they are just props for conservatives. The people I listed are props for no one. They are accomplished people in their fields of endeavor.

I am not highly interested in two women who have a disagreement about who is the real conservative and want to argue about it over social media.

SN (Join to see) - I don't follow either of these women so I cannot say with any certainty that either of them are more legit than the other. I don't really put any stock in any individual until I see a body of work that is demonstrably conservative, well thought out, consistent etc. What I am happy to see is more and more black Americans taking to the conservative, free market system and turning away from the democrats

The folks I listed above are people that get my attention when they speak. They have earned it over years of consistent conservative thought, expression, ideas etc. in their respective fields of expertise.

I look at this much like currency counterfeit experts do. You study the genuine to be able to pick out the false/questionable more easily, you do not study the false/questionable to better understand the real.
