The press release says, POTUS is meeting with these leaders to "bridge the generational gap" of civil rights activists. "According to the White House, on Thursday the group will “discuss a range of issues, including the Administration’s efforts on criminal justice reform, building trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve and the President’s priorities during his final year in office.” I feel these leaders are more concerned about making themselves look like heros and not really concerned with the welfare of the communities. Have they not seen that the main hotspot for an outpouring of civil rights activism, Ferguson, MO has rejected their efforts to reform the criminal justice in their area because of a lack of funding? “This consent decree will be viewed as a moral victory by many in the social justice movement,” said Blake Ashby, a city resident. “But it will be an economic defeat for the people of Ferguson.”

City officials said they had already begun making changes to Ferguson’s police and court procedures. Mr. Knowles, for instance, has taken steps to form a civilian oversight panel to review allegations of police abuse. And officials said they would continue making changes, lawsuit or not.

Are they not looking at the reports on civil unrest and racism? Through their actions they have caused damage that is physical, monetary and mental in areas that need help the most. It's hard to overlook the statistics, reported information and facts.
