Black, Millennial, Female and… Conservative

Why can't we be friends with those who share diverse opinions? Why can't we get along with family members who disagree with us politically? Ideologically? Why can't my family and friends just sigh and pity me? Why must they either turn me away from the dark side or leave me behind?
