Now I do have am issue with the marriage of social media with the armed services. Mostly because it leads to a certain bragging cavalier attitude about the service and our training. Notice here the bad form of the sit ups that these servicemen felt okay to post on social media. Situps come from the abs, not the back and certainly not the butt. (Take a look at the black shirt and the guy in the back) Now I do not blame those who are doing the exercise. However, you have spotters who are supposed to be supervising and giving good pointers. Then you have the person holding the camera, the person who is supposed to be reviewing the footage allowed to represent our United States Armed Services. Shake my head! Oh and by doing weird jerky movements like that, that serviceman is warping the integrity of his spine and creating a muscle imbalance effectively wasting energy and making the exercise harder. But I am only a medical student what do I know!
