I would've advocated raids as well. I just recently read "Book of Honor" by Ted Gup, about employee's in the CIA's Book of Honor. This incident was detailed in his book.
One of the American's killed was 21 yr old Barbara Robbins. She was a CIA secretary, had been in country only 3 weeks. She was the first American female killed in Viet Nam and first female Agency employee to be killed in line of duty. Also the Filipino that was killed was an active duty US Navy Storekeeper (SK).
