SP5 Mark Kuzinski thanks for sharing "This Day In History" a solid read and share with historical points: 1) agree to respect the neutrality of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), (2) stop shelling South Vietnamese cities and towns, and (3) agree to South Vietnamese participation in the Paris talks. He also demanded that the National Liberation Front, the Communist political organization in South Vietnam, be excluded from the negotiations

The talking never should have started until the fighting was over. Bomb a little, talk a little, bomb a little ... etc. only prolonged the war and was a waste of lives on both sides.
If North Viet Nam was not ready to sue for peace it only weakened our hand to do so, and showed us to be a paper tiger.

Thanks for reminding us SP5 Mark Kuzinski of the days when bombing was discussed at very high levels while soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen fought and died on the ground, in the water and in the air.
While it was okay that U.S. Ambassador Ellsworth Bunker wanted to push the discussions, I am glad that South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu insists that North Vietnam assent to three conditions prior to a bombing halt.
