A grape is a grape wherever it's grown. What counts is the skill of the winemaker and they can come from many places.

Thanks for sharing. Although France has tried to protect them from other countries ripping off the label of both, they have been unsuccessful for the most part. Including the U.S. who uses these terms all the time when it's not the real thing, including Parma cheese and Wagu beef (Japan).

Susan Foster Excellent Comment and Spot On. To be "Champagne" it has to come from the Champagne Region of France anything else is Sparkling Wine and Anyone can make Parmesan Cheese but to be Parmigiano-Reggiano (Which I Pay Top Dollar for) It has to come from a region of Italy and made with Water Buffalo Milk.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I had no idea until I just read a book about it. Even most of our olive oil is not pure!
