That is one of the reasons I am against walls and fences. The issue is to stop the magnets drawing them here. And that is extremely political.

The plan thingy drives me crazy. The reason everyone wants a plan is to find fault with it and use it to discredit the Politician. And, I don't see the issue as being racially motivated with the influx from the south and the VISA overstays (read illegals), as much as economically motivated. Many reports state up to $23B is sent back to Mexico and elsewhere, much probably not taxed, while we are paying unemployment to millions of our citizens. The schools and jail facilities are crowded with the results of this mass of non-citizens to be paid for locally with no compensation from their home states (where ever that might be).

SMSgt Thor Merich - There is no doubt that we need laborers and that can be managed by a well thought out guest worker program. If all is properly documented and the cost borne by local communities are covered, I can go with that. If it were in my control, all citizens getting UI would have to have any job available in order to receive compensation, with UI being supplied only to make up the difference between what they could get from a job and what they would get from UI.

If there is money to be made, a Businessman will find a way. Nature of the Beast. There is a huge demand in this country and they have a good supply of drugs and people.

Shame is the people out of work in some cases are the ones helping them. Gotta feed the family, who cares you have a degree in geological studies and understand tunneling?

They've been doing this for decades. I saw this when I was a Border Patrol Agent in the mid 1990s, and my brother saw one in the 1980s.

SSG Warren Swan - Not CBP, INS. I was a Border Patrol Agent for most of 1996, then got picked up as a Special Agent for INS Anti-Smuggling in 1997 and stayed through 2005. The last two years it was ICE. I've never been part of CBP and even as an immigration attorney I don't deal with them very much.

Just go to the Border between Tijuana and IB see that wall going out into the sea and just think all you have to do is take a boat out a little way and come around it.
