Break away from the USA? The effort to cleave California faces its own split

I place a lot more credence in the movements to split California into multiple (seven) states than to secede from the Union. California is full of loud-mouthed whiners (I know, I live here) who would never put up the fight needed to secede. Also, there's the other half of the CA population living outside the three major metropolitan areas (SF, LA, and SD) who are better armed and full of fight. And don't worry about Mexico. They don't want to mess with a good thing. So long as CA is part of the US, they have a place to send their people to work and send money back home. As a part of Mexico, CA would quickly become equally impoverished and you'd see the illegal aliens have to cross into OR, NV, and AZ where they wouldn't find nearly as much wealth to leech off of.

It's very possible that many Californians will leave soon. We just got a huge tax increase on gasoline. This make fuel more expensive in California than any other state including Hawaii. The tax is because the country's highest income tax, sales tax and property taxes apparently aren't enough to pay for road upkeep. However at the same time we can pay for a high speed rail line between San Jose and Fresno that is costing us $ 30 billion dollars currently and will likely cost$60 billion before it's done.

Governor Moonbeam what's up compete with Japan for stupid High-Speed Rail. California's going to price itself out of the market with the increase in the gasoline with its carbon tax scam and now with this.

Would the residents of Hollywood be legal documented aliens post secession? If so, by by Cali.

CA is so screwed up that it is hard for to not root for them to go away. With that being said, there is no way that they could survive on their own for very long.

Mexico believes CA belongs to them. If they were to attack, or wage an insurgency, I do not believe only a National Guard could stop it, without more support. If CA had to pay for a standing army, that would be a very expensive issue.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint - Mexico would already have a very large 5th column in place for that war, and CA would have lots of people who couldnt figure out what side they were on. CA would be in big trouble.

CA wll never be allowed to secede...55 deeply Democrat electoral college votes for presidential elections. Period. Take away CA's 55 last election, Hillary looks even worse!

Very interesting comment. I never looked at it that way, but I am sure others will. Great thinking!
