We need a whole new strategy for fighting terrorism and I'm not yet convinced that Mattis is the man to craft it. Although I greatly admire his forthright speech and firm stance, it may be that those are not the keys to winning this "war". Sadly, this new brand of insurgency is not based on a political ideology. It is rooted in a perverted view of religion and that is the real enemy. It is especially hard to fight because we have an innate respect for religion. Freedom of religion is hard coded into our cultural DNA which is why cults like Scientology slip through the cracks and cause so much damage. Thus, I fear that we won't succeed in this battle until we win the battle with our own demons.

Damn that was deep. True as the day is long though. But if they do not eventually change their ways. They will be fighting the world as they try to push all countries to convert. It's obvious that they are not going to take one country at a time methodology.

I am glad General Mattis is in charge. But, I disagree. ISIS is an Ideology. Therefore, isn't the main issue what is being taught in the Mosques and Maddressas's?
Please see my first sentence.
