Thank you, my friend SGT (Join to see) for posting the audio recording of Buddy Holly and The Crickets performing "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" in 1959 with video segments and photos.
Song background: "In this song, Holly is coping with a breakup, telling a girl that she doesn't matter anymore, as it's all over between them. He recorded the song on October 21, 1958 in New York City. It was his last recording session, as he died in a plane crash on February 3, 1959. Released in January 1959, the song peaked on the Hot 100 at #13 in March.
In the UK, the song was released after Holly's death and rose to #1 in April, his only chart-topper there.
Paul Anka wrote this song specifically for Holly. Like Holly, Anka was one of the few young singers who was writing his own songs. In the late '50s, Anka was still a teenager and extremely prolific. He was also very business savvy, with his own publishing company, so having an artist of Holly's stature could pay off nicely.
This was one of the first Holly recordings to use string arrangements to highlight his vocals."

Lyrics
There you go and baby here am I
Oh well you left me here so I could sit and cry
Well golly gee what have you done to me?
Well, I guess it doesn't matter anymoreDo you remember baby last September
How you held me tight each and every night
Well, oops-a-daisy, how you drove me crazy
But I guess it doesn't matter any moreThere's no use in me a cryin'
I've done everything and now I'm sick of trying
I've thrown away my nights
And wasted all my days over you
Well you go your way and I'll go mine
Now and forever 'til the end of time
I'll find somebody new and baby
We'll say we're through and you won't matter any more
There's no use in me a cryin'
I've done everything and now I'm sick of trying
I've thrown away my nights
And wasted all my days over you
Well you go your way and I'll go mine
Now and forever 'til the end of time
I'll find somebody new and baby
We'll say we're through and you won't matter any more
You won't matter any more"
