Can random bits of DNA lead to safe, new antibiotics and herbicides?

I'm not thoughtless in mind, but we have done some pretty unthought-of feats with human stem cells and cloning. But here is the thing, how far are we humans willing to go to find out we may be tampering with a costly unknown. There are those who feel we Christian, Trinity One GOD, Heavenly Creator believers are ignorant. Are we trying to prove there is no GOD and that all there is, we can make better?

That's a very interesting question, maybe they will be able to develop such items.
