@po1 William "Chip" Nagel after what the Nazi's put the Jewish people through in WWII, I would think that anyone believed to be an actual war criminal would not be defending his citizenship, but instead defending himself in a war crimes tribunal.

Remember that towards the end of the war many of the hitler youth groups were committed as reserves and there are slews of photos of kids cited as being as young as 14 year olds captured as combatants and some photos clearly depict them in SS uniforms.
So you could have Nazis as young as 86 still roaming around out there and who knows how many could have been affiliated with war crimes. Recent changes in prosecution standards extend to those who were present verses the old standard of the actual trigger pullers, guards and selection teams.

Sounds like a cousin of mine on my dad's side, was a conscript for the SS troops. He didn't make thru the war though.
