A shooting in the newsroom of The Capital Gazette in Annapolis on Thursday left five people dead and several more seriously injured. It's also reignited conversation about recent political attacks on journalists and the media.

Thank you for the share brother, for once it was nice of the POTUS to not belittle the press but to pay condolences to those lost in the mindless shooting.

When you have the President of the US telling crowds that journalists are some of the most dishonest and dishonorable people he knows (I know, the irony of that coming from a serial liar) and repeatedly saying that the press is the enemy of the people, it sets a tone that those on extreme edge of society who are inclined to violence can take as empowering.

Here's an interesting take from the HP staff where they printed some of the hate mail and threats they receive regularly. Given that this latest shooter had been an Internet poster sending similar threats, they wonder how do you decide what is real and what is trolling in today's environment.
