One of the parts that gets me is when he is riding with the funeral director and all the cars and trucks line up behind him with lights on.

PO2 Mark Saffell - We did some good things in Foxboro MA for Gunny Sullivan who was among the fallen at the Chattanooga Tn Naval Reserve Center. The Candle Light Ceremony was very well attended by this old New England town and lots of media covered it. So when they had his funeral in Springfield MA the line along the way from his funeral mass to his gravesite was enormous..

Sgt Tom Cunnally Before my dad passed away last year when he was healthy, He served as the Post Chaplin for the American Legion in Overland, MO. As the Post Chaplin he performed more burial ceremonies than I can count at Jefferson Barracks Here in St. Louis. I remember when it was his turn, he had a full honor guard and gun salute and taps...Very, Very hard thing to sit through.

I have a rough time when the choir sings "On Angels Wings" at Funeral Masses..I'm ok with everything else at funerals but that song really gets to me for some reason

Have read this story a number of times. The captain should be commended for his kindness and respect to the family, and his sense of honor to the military.

Dave .... you got the right. Every so often you run into guys like him but sadly not too often. But we had a candle light vigil last summer for Gunny Sullivan & the 4 other guys shot by an Islamic Terrorist in Chattanooga Tn..& had a lot of high school kids attend this solemn ceremony. I was surprised to see some of them tear up when one of their classmates sang the National Anthem .

God bless this soldier from one who gave some & he gave all. We should think about our fallen who pay the ultimate price for us, & as Gen PX Kelly once said, "Where do we get these men?"..
