When serving on a WWII diesel submarine during a port call around 1960, Yokosuka, japan, our seawater strainer for the main engines filled with jellyfish and caused the engines to overheat. No way to charge the batteries without the engines, when shore power wasn't available. We went topside and the water looked like bubble wrap from all the jellyfish. We could not charge until they left and we were able to clean out the sea strainers. YUCK, not a good time for Enginemen.

MCPO Roger Collins So Master Chief that means this is nothing new and not the result of global warming, radioactive waste or all the other non-PC actions going on in the Pacific?
