Nope, first time I heard of him is when I came across the video. So, based on your comment, I did a little research. Seems there is some validity in your statement. It's obvious that many Chinese don't appreciate his work. I certainly wouldn't identify him as an expert in Chinese culture. However, because he is outside looking in, he does have a unique perspective and that was the point of the video. As with most things, you have to take it with a grain of salt. Part of the world and have family that travel to China for business I tend to take him with a the size grain of salt you give farm animals to pick. But he does get some stuff right. Think of him as being A National Enquirer level source sometimes worthwhile but needing verification.
