SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint I No Longer have the "Need to Know" but I Strongly Suspect that the Successor of My Beloved Naval Security Group, The 10th Fleet has an "Eye" on China.

There are numerous theories as to why the general American public is subject to this point of view. Tell share two:

1. America and Russia have been at odds for a few decades. The Cold War certainly solidified our view of them as a monstrosity that could never want what we want and was to different and dangerous to be considered and ally or otherwise control. How would it look it the leading nation of democracy allied with communism, which is so valiantly fights. Corruption in Russia, is not quite corruption to russia. Our points of view on the issue are too far different. Think of how long it’s taken us to become such allies with Great Britain, and we still have a bit of a fire with them.

2. The American people love a scandal. China is much more open than Russia in terms of its plans and engagements. Of course there are secret ventures, but for the most part, China is very open with its intentions and this only earns 25 minutes of fame, as opposed to Russia who favors behind the scenes work.

I will leave you with this thought.

As someone who does have the need to know, but not charge specifically with this area at this time, the American military is far from overlooking when it comes to China, and this is across many of the Combatant Commands. Make no mistake, we are aware of the potential threat China poses
