Its too early to make educated guesses. China deliberately allows Hong Kong and Maccau to thrive to the point where China itself is reaping the rewards in economic growth. China is communist in name only. So Taiwans "commie" fear - while great for election points - is pointing to something else. Now thats not to say that Taiwan has "nothing to fear" but again, Hong Kong's been communist since 1999, right?

Personally? I think Taiwan has been approached in the past about reunification and I don't see a real threat in that. China already has the amphib toys to cross the ditch and take Taiwan by force. The fact that they haven't says volumes. USA? Be kinda like China getting involved in California and Texas wanted to seceed, right?
