How one sided you are in your quote. Maybe if you read the whole thing:
"Shares in semiconductor and related tech companies had already plunged on Wednesday after the former president’s comments, as well as a report that suggested Joe Biden’s administration was considering the strictest controls on the trade of chips to China."
Personally, I have no problem with either move. Make sure Taiwan is doing their part to ensure their own defense and keep China from taking advantage of us all. Trump is obviously trying to negotiate more advantageous deals and Biden is trying to look strong against China. Politics.

Maj Kevin "Mac" McLaughlin - Sometimes you just have to look at who is posting and scroll past. It isn't worth agonising over these liberal democrats. I worked at a trade uninon job for over 30 years and as a republican, I had to put up with a lot of democrat retoric. Its like water off of a ducks back.

Normally I do scroll past his... However, when I see something that is categorically wrong and/or misleading, I'm going to say something.

SPC Lyle Montgomery - Exactly, I usually ignore what he posts but sometimes it is just way too ignorant to ignore! lol

Trump approved this and Taiwan paid for it but Taiwan got put at back of line because Biden's weakness in the shitty Afghanistan Retrograde gave Putin courage to restart his war with Ukraine.
Biden and Obama gave blankets and MREs before Trump gave Javelins and other weapons. Biden incentivizes enemies to strike. Doing sanctions to Russia AFTER Ukraine after the 2-2022 invasion was too little and too late. Taiwan needed those tanks. We should have a second tank factory.

My professional assessment is Taiwan needs to spend that money on anti-tank missiles, cannon munitions of the 'beehive' genre, rifle and hand grenades, suicide and reusable bomber drones, claymore and bouncing-betties, and other conventional mass casualty producing types of weaponry for land use.
For use over the waters of straits they need shipkillers. For the air surrounding the nation they need the Phalanx CIWS and surface-to-air missiles.
For future defense a technically inclined country like Taiwan can easily put together short-range vehicle mounted railguns to kill landing craft.
All these weapons and suystems are well within the country's capabilties.

LTC Trent Klug I am doubtful.
Too much to lose and this would hurt NATO.

Seems reasonable to me. Taiwan's wealth is largely founded in its trade with America. China's too! If China screws with US, they're only hurting themselves.
