I disagree Jack. Just as there are Christian sects that embrace the LGBTQ+ community there are those that do not. There is no 'cookie cutter' Christian, just like there is no 'cookie cutter' liberal or conservative.
Would it be "Un-American" for people that don't support groups that support Constitutional rights (such as the 1st Amendment or the 2nd Amendment) if they don't agree with the way those rights are being 'supported' through the organization (such as the ACLU or NRA). Likewise with private schools.
The school needed to "read the room". There is no obligation of someone to support something they do not believe it. The school acknowledged that their donor base would not support their stance and decided to go ahead with it (their bad again for underestimating how much they would be losing). What they should have done is contact other donors that are likely to support their view and ask them for money to replace what they knew they were going to lose.
I'm sure there are many that would have stepped up to the plate to replace the funding if they had thought ahead. Heck, I assume many that support LGBTQ+ causes on RallyPoint will open their checkbooks to help replace the funding.

Excellent post. Thank You for sharing this. This is a shame. But, a lot of folks in the USA don't support the LGBTQ community. Ironically, those that belong to the LGBTQ are humans too. Didn't Jesus welcome Mary Magdalene despite what She did?

I think a majority or plurality of Americans support LGBTQ community but think it's a minority of the Christian demographic in certain areas support them. Kansas and Missouri are both very Christian Conservative states. So this unfortunate conclusion doesn't surprise me.
