If I look at my own marriage, I am married twice. Once in the eyes of God and once in the eyes of the state of Washington, county of King, city of Seattle. The one that affects my life morally and ethically is the first marriage. The one that affects my life financially is the second marriage; but only in the case of us splitting apart.

I see a day when governments support all sorts of "marriages", including line marriages, set time limit contract marriages, etc. Too many people confuse the "legal" marriage with the true marriage...

If you were LDS there’d be a third marriage.

Interesting. Heterosexual couples that want all the rights of marriage couples without actually being married. Reminds me of Common Law marriage but sounds like a non-religious marriage. Interesting and weird.

If you can do it for one class of un-married folks it’s discriminatory to deny the same rights/privileges/protections to others.

Legislation has pretty much banned polygamy... let’s see what happens with polyandry...

Enquiring minds...

Sgt Wayne Wood - It's the UK or should I say England. I'm still trying to understand the difference between a Civil Partnership and a Civil Union in respects to their country. For us, a Civil Union is nothing but a marriage by a Justice of the Peace or Judge in a non-religious ceremony.
