Before we get too excited (and I did get excited) this is a three star system. Even our best propeller heads are at a loss to compute whether life CAN exist in a binary/trinary multi star system. The orbital mechanics alone may preclude there ever being life. BUTTTT, that said the Drake Equation can be tweaked because of this discovery.... I think subconsciously that leaving the dark ages into discovery circa 1800's was the "best" time for science. With so many discoveries lately (LIGO, CERN, 3000+ exoplanets) how can I not argue for "now" being that time? Oh, 99% of all MEST (math, engineering, science, tech) peeps in history, are alive right now.

SPC George Rudenko I agree with most everything you said. The exception being the Drake Equation. It's totally contrived, and has no basis in reality for predicting anything. Drake did the best he could, and he was way smarter than most of us, yet still, he merely guessed at the variables. So I put zero stock in it actually representing anything real. Sure, it's the yardstick we have, but...*Shrugs*. I put a lot more stock in the youth of our civilization being the reason we haven't found any sentient life out there -- we've only been broadcasting for a hundred years. We simply haven't had time yet.
Interesting point about the multi-star system effecting life, though. You're certainly right, and it's something I hadn't considered. Still, life doesn't have to be sentient, and the worst places on earth have life.

I'm more concerned with finding sentient life here before I begin looking for it elsewhere
