Sounds like a PR move. Placate the mob while switching resources to more profitable lines. The only problem is that this will appear to the mob as a victory and encourage them to press for more.

CPT Jack Durish I agree that it could be a PR move but you can get good quality ARs cheaper than what they sell them for. Maybe they aren't selling as many as they need to, to be profitable.

As in this case they have out priced themselves. Loss of market is reason to quit a product that can be replaced with a cheaper but quality rifle.

Thank you, my friend SGM Steve Wettstein for posting the unsurprising news that Colt is joining the crowd - probably under contracting pressure from Federal and State governments which have contracts for weapons produced by Colt.
