PFC Roger Goff Japanese Internment camps in WWII are a perfect example of this. When I was in school, no U.S. History, or World History course I ever took made mention one of those camps. When I learned about it later I was amazed and horrified at the same time. Additionally General Robert E. Lee was offered command of the Union Army at the onset. As in WWII where not every German soldier fought because they supported the Nazi party, not everyone who fought for the confederacy did so because they believed in slavery.
Those who do not learn from the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them. Those who would erase those mistakes make it impossible for future generations to learn from those mistakes. The United States is 241 years old. For the first almost 90 years slavery was a part of our history. It was another 90 years before segregation was abolished, and another ten years before the civil rights act. So for the first 190 years of our nation's history we had institutionalized discrimination. Now suddenly we are so sensitive that we need to remove all reference to it from everywhere? Bullshit. Meanwhile women were not guaranteed the right to vote until 1920, and still are not paid equal for the same jobs. So why is racism something to be obliterated from the consciousness, but sexism is still a thing? As the whiners continue to complain about the injustice of it all, time just keeps marching along not giving two shits about our precious little feelings.

I believe they are part of our history and should remain. Not all of our history is pretty but it happened and it should be taught in our schools and monuments should remain to teach the history.

This seems to be the "method of attack" for our weak minded friends. Where will it stop? Will they bulldoze Jefferson's Home Monticello, burn Mt. Vernon, pull down the University of Virginia that was established by Thomas Jefferson. Oh and the monuments in DC. This is getting ridiculous and it is time we stood up against this terrorism. Sorry but this is a sore spot with me. This is what ISIS is now doing in the territories that they control. Wipe out history of the residents. We call that terrorism don't we? If you feel I am over stepping my bounds please make a comment. There is still free speech in this forum.

SPC Douglas Bolton
SP5 Dave (Shotgun) Shockley You are not out of bounds. Much of what you say is true, and spot on.
