This will first drive a wedge with our allies, worst is that since 2001 these same congress people have don nothing. The other issue what does this bill do for those service members down range. The idiots in congress are doing this for re-election point and don't give one dam about service members that work within the country that they have targeted 15 years later.

As a 30 year retired Army veteran, I very much agree with Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter's warning that allowing the bill to become law risks “damaging our close and effective cooperation with other countries” and “could ultimately have a chilling effect on our own counter-terrorism efforts.”
I also concur with CIA Director John O. Brennan's statement on Wednesday that the 9/11 bill has “grave implications for the national security of the United States."

The primary beneficiaries of this bill are lawyers, and not the families of 9/11 victims. I can see very little good, and a whole lot of bad, resulting from this bill if it becomes law.

I just don't see the point. What do supporters of the family members really want to do? I've heard comments such as "finally bring to justice the perpetrators of the September 11th."
What does that message really bring to all who have been engaged in our global war on terrorism?
Is there really any benefit?

I really thought that President Obama got this one right and to have it overturned is kind of mind boggling. I'm really hoping someone can shed light on why congress would allow this.

Totally agree. A political stunt in an election year for those up for re-election can look like Patriots as they fight for 9/11 victims' rights to sue a foreign country. So many other important laws they could be focused on and Pres. Obama knows this.
