This is pretty interesting. I've never really considered what wars cost, besides many lives, which is more important to me than dollars.

I would question if anyone knows. Who knows where CIA money is going? Or State Department. We have contingency funds and funds appropriated that are visable to the public.

SGT (Join to see) - I work for State - not The Agency. The Agency has cleaned up a lot of their act since the 1960's . . . and there have always been a lot of very good people working there. Keep in mind The Agency gets blamed for intelligence work that goes south - not always the work product of The Agency. In short, please don't blame me for the shortcomings of The Agency - but, also please keep in mind that not everything you read about The Agency is true - and there are some very dedicated, talented, and people working at The Agency - many of whom I recruited, followed, and respect. This is what they say is the reason.
"Tucked into the annual defense authorization bill — expected to become law in coming days — is a provision requiring the Defense Secretary and Internal Revenue Service Commissioner to post online all of the costs, “including the relevant legacy costs, to each American taxpayer of each of the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria.”

I'm hoping that "the relevant legacy costs" includes disability compensation and healthcare for veterans who participated in those wars.

And Congress should also evaluate the travel system that all the soldiers both past and present of use the Carlson wagonlit Sato travel that usually charges 3 times the price of a ticket to anyone here could buy online through Priceline or Expedia Etc and the only thing that we have is the tickets always able to cancel or changeable to whatever I still don't think that's worth paying three times the price but this is something that was said during the Bill Clinton administration. I remember flying to Hawaii from Canada the flight would have cost me about $700 to fly to Hawaii for 20 days of training at operation key resolve at US Army Pacific. The price of the ticket cost $700 for civilians but it cost the u.s. government about $2,400. Just how many hundreds of millions or billions of dollars we could save if we renegotiated that contract. But probably Congress won't touch it because it was set up by President Bill Clinton

This is part of the Civilian Reserve Air Fleet (CRAF) that we may need to federalize in the event of CRAF III activation....we throw them business under CRAF I which we are in now. This is our strategic mobility fleet.

LTC (Join to see) - the contracted carriers we use are. It's not really the SATO/Carlson Wagonlit peeps. They have to use contract carriers as the norm. If you look at DTS You can use one that is less cost or meets the specific mission requirements if approved by the CTO. The open tickets are to give service members flexibility if missions change, flights cancelled etc. at the government fare, immune to changes while you are standing at the counter in the terminal trying to get home.

LTC Jason Mackay - Yes, Sir, the CTO picked the cheapest ticket for me to got to Key Resolve in 2011 and when I went to ILE phase 1 and 3 at Fort Dix. Still, expensive. I had to stay overnight in Dulles in phase 1 and Philly in Phase III. I was lucky there was a USO in Philadelphia Airport. I froze in the terminal at Dulles. Anyways, I have my 1059 permed now for my ILE CC so I am glad that is over with LOL.
