Not everyone should be a police officer. Clearly the officer did the wrong thing, the officer should have a rape whistle and a wooden pistol like in the otherguys. I am surprised by many of the cynical comments in the paper attached to the article. Sad to see the total disconnect between people and the police.

read this in the news this morning... WTF is wrong with people? This officer makes the rest of us in LE look like shit and gives ALL of us a bad name. Hope he is prosecuted.

PO1 Michael Fullmer with due respect, I personally hope that my interactions with Law Enforcement are limited to a "Good Day" when passing. I agree he should be prosecuted.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - I do my level best to treat EVERYONE the same, until circumstances dictate otherwise.

People make mistakes. The police run to the sound of gunfire. THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY. Stop promoting it. Because one police officer did the wrong thing does not mean the other 120,000 of them are bad. These 12 people killed Chicago were most likely killed by males. Does than mean all males are killers?

You are helping to portray police as being bad. It was not what you said. It was what you did not say. How many good post have you made about police officers?

SGT William Howell - things that need to be fixed always capture the attention of the media/public for discussion. How many threads have been started on RP about all the good things muslim mosques have done in their communities? Or how many threads have you seen about muslims who have denounced terrorism and ISIS? Or how many threads talking about the millions of American muslims that never break the law? But how many threads have there been about a handful of muslim shooters, and how many of those actually have blamed the entire muslim community for the action of a handful of criminals?

It is the exception that always draws the scrutiny. But we should not hesitate to expose a problem because of that. And in the case of the police brutality, the current system within police departments and city Halls has been particularly reluctant to even admit there is a problem much less take measures to fix it.
