Something I thought many moons ago while in Vegas - a lunatic in a truck could kill hundreds on the strip. Hope they get it build quickly as well hope others do the same.

SPC David S. - Since a fake wouild cost the same as the real thing what would be the point? Steel is cheap and the labor for a fake would probably cost more than the real thing. People will cheat to get a few extra bucks, but seldom do so to lower their profits

SPC David S. - Do not think they use fake cameras in the Strip or casinos. Lots of military working in them. All are amazed at the operational capability.

Not saying they would install fake bollards - to clarify more about providing a false sense of security - the presence of the bollards would make people feel good about their personal safety.
I think we really need to rethink the way we design public spaces including “structural measures" that prevent access to or close proximity of unscreened vehicles to buildings and or spaces where people gather. Measures that reduce the speeds of vehicles like bends or chicanes or other methods that prevent access need to be considered. With New York and Charlottesville we now have to accept that vehicles have been weaponized.

Jim FYI I am already a little spun up due to other conversations so please understand my responses may intentionally a little aggressive. hahaha
I think in addition to sidewalk stuff, all the law enforcement departments, units, agencies should be outfitted with new tools to help maintain order. Sorry Jim I am trying to find a way to stretch it out and make it more suspenseful but I can't. The new tool I referring to is a simple bat, thats right a baseball bat. Not to be used often and never discussed when used but the results would be almost immediate.
Jim I know the above is nonsense but I am just a little tired of all the garbage going on.

The would never use bats on the Strip or around the tourist. But, the city complains and jumps on gangs and makes them uncomfortable here. The Strip area is very safe because it is a focus. But the areas around Las Vegas seems pretty safe. Henderson NV is in one of the top 5% on safe in the FBI stats. They have crime labs and capability that cities this size normally do not have. I continue to be amazed out here. It is a great place to retire.

thats great, however, I think part of it is they realize they if folks don't come to Vegas all the money goes away. Just my opinion, but I am pretty confident I am right.

That is true, but also they plan and have the budget to plan. When unfunded requirements happen in local schools, the casinos jump in and cover cost. It is kind of amazing.
