Thanks TSgt Joe C. for letting us know that on February 7, 1855 one of the most famous contemporary chroniclers of the cowboy life, Charles Siringo, was born in Matagorda County, Texas.
In 1885 he published the first authentic autobiographical account of the cowboy life, "A Texas Cowboy, or Fifteen Years on the Hurricane Deck of a Spanish Cow Pony. "

Some of the Hollywood versions of the Cowboy and the Old West captivated the imagination of young boys, but were really poor versions of the authentic. Where would the “authentic Cowboy” fit in today’s world? The rodeo circuit?
