Not condoning what they did, but this is clearly undue command influence.

So often the military justice system isn't about justice, the rule of law or even good order and discipline. It is about what the Commander feels,wants or needs to cover his ass. Even if found not guilty there is oftentimes retaliation.

Did it collapse due to lack of evidence or because they got their feelings hurt and were embarrassed?
