Well he has a point just like settling out of court isn't an admission of guilt. Hahaha!

Actually settling out of Court is not. Many large companies and government agencies have a policy that they will settle law suits (regardless of fault) under a certain amount because it’s cheaper than fighting the lawsuit. LA County has a 30k limit. Lawyers are expensive and paying off law suits is a price you pay for doing business.

SMSgt Thor Merich - Uh huh. It's called perception of guilt which is why many high profile businesses and individuals to go out of the way to ensure you don't hear about the settlements either; especially the detail. Just ask Fox News Channel and Bill O'Reilly.

MAJ James Woods - Oh, I agree with you Major that the perception is there. Which is why I am against paying off folks just because its cheaper. I am also against all the secrecy, especially when the government does it. As a taxpayer we have a right to know where our money is going. I guess my point is that it is a common occurrence, I am not agreeing with the practice though. But I have seen it at the local government level where folks get paid when no wrong doing was committed.
